“Active fundraising programmes locally and world-wide to improve health services for all”

Rowlands Pharmacy are now official sponsors of the British Heart Foundation

British Heart Foundation (BHF) are the UK’s leading heart charity and fund over £100 million of research each year into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them.  Heart diseases.  Stroke.  Vascular Dementia.  Diabetes.  They're all connected, and they're all under the BHF's microscope.

For over 50 years, BHF have pioneered lifesaving research and already, they've helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK.

Their vision is a world without heart and circulatory diseases.  They raise money to research cures and treatments, so we can beat heartbreak forever.

Thanks to the BHF's research, today more people than ever survive heart and circulatory diseases. But these conditions still cause heartbreak for millions of families - killing 1 in 4 people. With the help of Rowlands Pharmacy, BHF will change that.  Their research has revolutionised how we treat heart diseases, such as heart attacks, heart rhythm problems and congenital heart defects.  But there’s still more work to do.

Heart diseases still cause heartbreak on every street, in every office, in every school.  BHF also research into circulatory conditions ranging from stroke to vascular dementia and risk factors.  Risk factors are things that increase your risk of developing heart and circulatory diseases.  Like diabetes or high blood pressure.  BHF research risk factors like these to protect your health.

Help us ‘Beat heartbreak’ for people like Callum

Cuddler.  Cheeky monkey.  Matchbox car expert.  Callum from Seaforth, Liverpool was born with multiple congenital heart defects and was unable to breathe for himself.  He required immediate resuscitation and was only given a 20% chance of survival.  At just a few weeks old he endured his first 7 hour heart surgery followed by a second at only 6 months old.  Since then Callum has had over 20 operations with more to come.

Despite this, Callum is a happy little boy who is full of life.  He loves cars and can easily name all the different makes and models.

Callum’s Mum, Jo says

“Every day with Callum is precious. The work of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) gives us so much hope for the future. I love fundraising for the BHF as I understand just how incredibly important research is for children like Callum. I am very proud to think that I am helping other families that might be in a similar situation to us”

One in every 100 babies in the UK are born with CHD. With your support we can continue to give hope to more children like Callum.

Hello from Simon, the BHF’s CEO!

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is delighted to be starting this partnership with Rowlands Pharmacy.  The British Heart Foundation is making fantastic progress to beat the heartbreak that heart and circulatory diseases such as stroke and vascular dementia cause to millions.

Each day in the UK around 480 people will go to hospital with a heart attack.  Now, about 7 in 10 will survive and return home but in 1961 when the BHF began, that would have been unthinkable.  In those days the odds of survival, let alone recovery, from a heart attack were poor.  We believe research holds the answers to ending the suffering from heart and circulatory disease and with the support of Rowlands Pharmacy we will be able to carry on funding over £100 million into research each year.  Alongside world-leading research, we’ll drive programmes of work to keep the nation’s hearts healthy and we know that Rowlands Pharmacy will do a fantastic job working with us.  Working together is going to enable us to go even further and faster in achieving our goal to beat heartbreak forever.

I very much look forward to working with Rowlands Pharmacy and watching this wonderful partnership grow over the coming years

We also help to support other charities including…

Cancer Research UK

The most recent campaign we took part in was ‘World Cancer Day’ where each pharmacy was provided with Unity Bands to sell to customers. In one month we raised £77,000 which made us the highest fund raiser across the country.  This campaign was a huge success and we can’t wait to take part again in 2017 and hopefully beat this years.

Alzheimer UK

In May 2016 our pharmacies had a campaign to raise awareness for Dementia. In one month we banked £1,210.49.
