Sore Throats
Description
A sore throat is an uncomfortable and painful condition. The throat becomes red and sore and it may be worse when you swallow. In 8 out of 10 cases, a sore throat is caused by a virus and will only last 3 to 7 days.
Our Advice
Drink plenty of water and suck lozenges to moisten the throat.
Ask your pharmacist to choose a product for you that will help relieve the pain.
In most cases there is no cure but the symptoms can be helped.
Most sore throats will go on their own in about 7 days.
Antibiotics from the doctor are not useful in most cases of sore throats.
Ask to see your pharmacist if you are having difficulty swallowing drinks.
Loss of voice is common with dry sore throats.
