Cold Sores
Description
Cold sores are a viral infection found on the lips and face and are easily passed on.
Our Advice
Earlier treatment reduces the severity and duration of the cold sore. Ideally, you should treat at the "tingle" stage but if you miss this, just treat as soon as possible.
If you get regular cold sores, keep Zovirax to hand so that you can treat the blister or tingle straight away.
Avoid contact with other parts of the body as the virus can spread easily and quickly.
Do not have close physical contact with others.
Wash your hands regularly during an attack to avoid spreading the virus.
Use a separate towel for the cold sore area.
Wear a good sunscreen because strong sun can trigger cold sores.
If there is no improvement after 10 days, ask our pharmacist for advice.
