Colic is a broad term referring to uncontrollable, extended bouts of crying in a baby who is otherwise well-fed and healthy. It usually occurs in babies from 2 weeks old and lasts up to 3 or 4 months. Babies with colic look uncomfortable and may lift their legs or become red in the face. Colic is not a serious condition but is distressing to the family and can be relieved and sometimes prevented with colic medication.
